Ken Roughton

Ken Roughton is a self taught drummer from Fenwick Island, DE who started playing gigs in the

Ocean City, MD area at the age of fifteen, playing songs from groups like Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly,

Jimi Hendrix and Grand Funk Railroad to form a solid rock influenced style. After high school he worked

with his senior year high school music teacher in a group playing a cleaner style of music from groups

like The Beatles and The Moody Blues.

During the mid 70's Ken spent six years living and surfing in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Upon returning

to Delmarva he landed a job in the regionally popular southern rock group "Great Train Robbery". Five

years on the road with a full time working band proved to be "a great learning experience" into the world

of professional music.

Since the mid 80's Ken has been running his store, "Fenwick Island Surf Shop" and raising his two

daughters while continuing to play music, such as a six year run with the locally well known wedding

band "The Tuxtones" and many jobs with several other local bar bands.

Ken continues to enjoy sitting in and jamming with other local musicians every chance he gets and

asks, "How lucky can you get? Along with my family, both of my hobbies have turned into my life."

His well rounded working musical experience and backup vocal singing ability make a solid backbone

for "Randy Lee Ashcraft and The Salt Water Cowboys"
